How much does it cost to stay at Menard Convalescent Center?
Our semi-private room rate is $120 per day, which includes room and board, three meals per day, recreation, and nursing care. This fee does not include medications, rehabilitation, oxygen, hair care (other than shampooing during shower), personal laundry, and other items like disposable undergarments.
A private room, when available, is $140 per day.
However, many of our residents come to stay with us after hospitalization. Medicare is available as payment for eligible recipients after three consecutive qualifying midnight stays in a hospital, and when skilled nursing care is medically necessary.
Medicare can pay for your stay for up to 100 days. During days 1 through 20, Medicare pays all charges associated with your stay. During days 21 through 100, Medicare pays all charges less a resident paid co-payment. In 2010 that co-payment is $137.50 per day. Many residents have private insurance that will take care of the co-payment. Medicare will not pay for respite stays or daycare.
Medicaid (Illinois Public Aid) will pay all costs incurred while staying at a nursing facility if the resident qualifies financially. Sometimes patients will use their Medicare benefits first, and then become private pay or Medicaid residents.
Payor source has no effect on care; in fact, most of our staff do not know who is on Medicaid, Medicare, insurance, or private pay.
What can I bring to Menard Convalescent Center?
The rooms at Menard Convalescent Center usually have two beds, two nightstands, one dresser, one closet, and one or two chairs.
Linens are furnished, however many residents prefer to bring their own bedspreads. Some bring a favorite chair. Pictures, collectibles, etc., are all allowed. However, families must realize that space is limited.
Some patients stay in bedclothes all day, others get dressed each morning. Whatever type of clothing the resident is comfortable wearing is what we recommend he or she bring for a stay. Clothing that is easy to get on and off and is washable is preferred.
TVs are allowed in residents’ rooms, and cable is available through Charter for a monthly charge. We do have a TV room that is available for residents and their families and we also have a TV in the dining room for all to enjoy.
What will I do all day?
We have a bustling Activities Department. Our goal is to make your stay at Menard Convalescent Center as enjoyable as possible through entertainment and activities.
Regularly-scheduled activities include bingo, reading group, exercise, music, scrapbooking, sewing, and woodworking. Our activities are constantly changing in response to interests of our residents.
We also have special activities such as a summer social, ice cream social, and live music. Families are invited to Family Night quarterly, and special entertainment is offered during holidays such as Mother’s Day and Father’s Day.
Some residents prefer to stay in their rooms and watch TV or read, and we respect that choice. Residents may choose to attend any or all activities at any time.
When can my family visit?
Families may visit our facility anytime. However, to respect the privacy of our patients, our official visiting hours are 10 a.m. until 8 p.m.
Residents may use the phone to make or receive calls anytime.
A private area is available for family dining, and families may eat meals at Menard Convalescent Center for a nominal charge (24-hour notice is requested.)
